Fall Coaches Meeting and Volunteers for Equipment Inventory
by posted 09/01/2010

Coaches,
Thank you all again for volunteering for the Fall season. Things are ramping up with games starting September 11th.

We apologize for the short notice but we will be having our mandatory coaches meeting next Tuesday night 7:30pm at the library Meeting Hall. This is for all coaches in-town and travel to discuss schedules, distribute rosters and other important information. If you are unable to attend please respond immediately. Travel practices are already in motion and in-town coaches willbe provided with rosters this weekend so they can notify parents of practices starting next week.

Things are in flux this season as we have had numerous board departures and difficulty finding in-town coaches so please bear with us as we work with limited  staff to get things coordinated.

IMMEDIATE NEED - we need a few coaches to volunteer to help sort through equipment on Friday evening 6pm at the Hawthorne Brook Equipment Trailer and create team kits for in-town and travel teams. We currently do not have an equipment director and need to get this done right away so we can order any missing equipment. As an incentive you will be able to pick out the bext equipment for your team!

The following are critical board positions that need to be filled immediatley to keep things running smoothly. Please communicate with your parents and encourage them to help if they have a few hours a week to spare (some of it can be done while the kids are at practice).
  • In-Town Director to create schedules and coordinate Saturday game activities
  • Snack Shack coordinator to coordinate volunteers to work the Shack and keep items stocked
  • In-Town field painters initial lining needs to be completed next week (2.5 hrs) with weekly lining (1hr)
  • Equipment Director - maintain inventory of balls, cones, flags, nets, goals and pinneys
NOTE: we lost the battle with weeds at Squannacook meadows this summer during the excessive heat while our irrigation system was under repair. Although irrigation is now online recovery will be slow and the conditions will be poor for most of the season. We are taking necessary measures to recover however please be patient and observe best practices to minimize further damage to the turf by rotating practices and avoiding repetition drills in the goal mouths.

Thanks again for all your support!
